The Carolinian is a passenger train operated by Amtrak between New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina. Average journey time is 13 hours 45 minutes and it is followed by theKeystone Service from NYC-Philadelpia,the Acela Express and both branches of the Northeast Regional from NYC-DC and a branch of the NE Regional, the Palmetto, the Silver Star and the Silver Meteor from NYC to Richmond, VA where the Silver Star keeps up with the Carolinian until Raleigh. From there it's neighboring train the Piedmont follows it 68 miles(108 km) to Greensboro where they are joined by the Crescent towards New Orleans for the next 98 miles(158 km) until Charlotte
